On October 14th, 15th and 16th, 2015, Dead Obies moved into the Phi Centre to record their sophomore effort, Gesamtkunstwerk, in front of a live crowd with the musicians of Kalmunity, Canada's largest and longest running improv music collective. One year later, the band presents the film Dead Obies - Live @ Centre Phi, which captures the three-date sold-out concert series, via Vimeo on Demand. To preview the film, the winners of the 2016 Espoir FEQ prize also unveil a video for the song Oh Lord (Live).

Long-listed for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize, Gesamtkunstwerk was released on March 4th, 2016 via Bonsound. With this album, Dead Obies explores new avenues of powerful, melodic choruses and concise raps, juxtaposed with laid-back rhythms, ethereal synths and organic, groovy bass. Rappers Snail Kid, 20Some, Yes Mccan, O.G. BEAR, RCA, and producer VNCE lead the race for this year’s GAMIQ awards with five nominations: Artist of the Year, Show of the Year, Rap Album of the Year, Video of the Year and _Audience Award.
Currently in France, Dead Obies will continue their XXXPLOSIF Tour, presented by the rhum Chic Choc, across Quebec at the end of October. French rapper Georgio, whose new album will drop on November 4th, will support the band in Quebec City on December 1st, in Montreal on December 2nd and in Gatineau on December 3rd. Having already sold out the concert at Montreal’s Club Soda, the band has announced a show at Métropolis on September 14th, 2017.
