A little over a year following the release of his fifth album, La grande nuit vidéo, Philippe B presents a video for the song Autoportrait (sans lunettes). Using stop motion animation, the video was directed by Montreal-based artist and photographer Pascal Grandmaison, who used the song while working on an experimental shoot of his in an old Roman villa. I like the metaphor in Autoportrait (sans lunettes), explains Grandmaison, the idea of being a lot of identities and imagining them in a parallel universe, only to realize that the blur (sans lunettes / without glasses) is what created this world.

The album La grande nuit vidéo is available in stores and on all music services.

Described by Le Devoir as a great musical success, La grande nuit vidéo was one of 40 albums long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize in 2017 and was nominated for two awards at last year’s ADISQ Gala: Folk Album of the Year and Album of the Year (Critic’s Choice). On the LP, Philippe B explores the human connection with fiction through the paradigm of a romantic couple.

Philippe B will perform a brand new show in Montreal on Thursday, November 8th at Club Soda, during the Coup de coeur francophone festival: Philippe B & The Alphabet. The singer-songwriter will step onto the stage with a rock orchestra for this unique concert, which includes a rhythmic section, a brass section, guitars, keyboards and back vocalists. Philippe B will revisit his catalogue, backed by nine musicians, while keeping his favourite instrument, the guitar, front and center.

Tickets for Philippe B & The Alphabet are on sale now.
