Dead Obies, brilliant defenders of post-rap, are bringing the Montréal $ud saga to another level with their new cartoon series 4:20 with Dead Obies. Following the publication of their eponymous book, which dissects the album’s music and lyrics, the band now veers towards self-mockery, offering fans a trippy behind-the-scenes window into the boys’ lives. Written by Martin C. Pariseau and animated by Vincent Bilodeau, each episode will star a member of the troop. One of the six episodes will be released each Monday, starting today. With their album Montréal $ud, the band earned a spot on the Polaris Long List, was nominated for two awards at the ADISQ and won four prizes at the GAMIQ. It also led them to France last year, where their fresh sound and original flow caught the media’s attention; a two-page spread in the daily paper Libération, TV appearances (France 3, France 2, Arte) and radio interviews (France Inter, RFI, FIP).

Dead Obies are currently working on new material.
