Just back from their NXNE show in Toronto, Secret Sun now presents the music video for Cold Coast premiering today on Les Inrocks. The song is off their inviting, simplistic and powerful (Grayowl Point) debut album released last September 2014.

Director Hervé Baillargeon, who directed the video for Passing Cars, utilizes a similar aesthetic in this black & white apocalyptic adventure. The video was shot on location in Oregon and features some breathtaking landscapes.

Cold Coast is about the open and restless state we find ourselves in when discovering beautiful, strange, and foreign places. Our fragile and flawed selves facing the unknown, betting our hopes and dreams on happenstance, explains Anne-Marie Campbell, singer, lyricist and one half of Secret Sun (the other half being guitarist/composer Simon Landy). Creatures in the night, glimmering eyes. The lyrics evoke a sense of restless adventurism, and so the video portrays two agitated adventurers trying to survive in an oxygen-deprived world. They arrive at the coast line just in time to witness the sun’s final days.

This spring, several Toronto and Montreal beatmakers remixed songs off of the album. The band is extremely proud of these inspiring collaborations and shares the complete series of remixes by The Posterz, FOXTROTT, Deebs, J.u.D, CRi, Toast Dawg, Dr. MaD and Technical Kidman.

C’est atmosphérique, planant et envoûtant. Ceux qui ont aimé le film Drive et sa bande-son ou qui aiment Beach house vont être conquis par sa délicatesse et son extravagance.

Secret Sun, the duo of Anne-Marie Campbell and Simon Landry, crafted lush and languid alternative pop songs that were simply spellbinding. Campbell has one of those beguiling, siren-like voices that effortlessly moves from high to low and back again.

Cold Coast has created the comforting chill of its title: inviting, simplistically powerful and filled with longing as we retreat into winter.

Grayowl Point

Une voix céleste. Des arrangements eighties nocturnes envoutants.

Émilie Côté, La Presse

Cold Coast is a classic end of summer song – boppy and electro-poppy enough for breezy days, but with a cool, nostalgic, ‘80s feel to it.
