Today, the Montreal-via-Lac-St-Jean artist Dave Chose releases a new video for Que’que chose, directed by Yoakim Bélanger. The track is off his self-titled debut album (an excellent album, according to the Canal auditif) released on April 27th via Bonsound. While album highlight Chez Françoise, a rough ballad with an exhilarating chorus, shows off the artist’s melancholic side, Que’que chose is an outright in-your-face rock song. The record has racked up numerous flattering reviews and Dave Chose is up for three GAMIQ awards: Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Indie Rock Album of the Year.

The album Dave Chose is out now in stores and on all music services.

There’s a charming naïveté and simplicity at the heart of Dave Chose’s lyrics, which highlight banalities like the taste of corner store iced tea, or the pleasure of rolling his own cigarettes. The whole thing is heightened by elaborate arrangements that are rich and electric. One of the most interesting new artists of the past year (Olivier Boisvert-Magnen, ICI Première), Dave Chose exploits this clash between lyrics and music with the help of the album’s two co-producers, Benoît Bouchard (who also engineered and mixed the album) and Nicolas Beaudoin. They were joined by other talented musicians, including Jonathan Bigras, Julien Sagot, Dany Placard, Alex McMahon and Louis-Philippe Gingras.

Dave Chose will perform at L’Escogriffe in Montreal on November 1st as part of Coup de coeur francophone, and will open for Lisa LeBlanc at Impérial Bell in Quebec City on November 29th.
