Almost a year to the day after the release of La nuit est une panthère, Les Louanges shares Expansion Pack, via Bonsound. Fresh off landing nine nominations at this year’s ADISQ Gala, Vincent Roberge reunites with producer Félix Petit for five new songs that flesh out Les Louanges’ signature sound. Expansion Pack is La nuit est une panthère on steroids, says Vincent.

The opener Attends-moi pas serves as a bridge between the whirlwind that was 2019 and Les Louanges’ next chapter. The first single released with a video from CAO last August 27th, recounts recent hardships around maintaining relationships when traveling between Austin and Paris. Parc Ex has much in common with some of La nuit’s stand-out tracks, but the second title off the EP hints at new ideas; it’s a bit more hip hop and explores more vocal FX. Parc Ex naturally leads to the heart of Expansion Pack: Les yeux sur la balle. The song features a verse from Robert Nelson and marks Les Louanges’ first collaboration. Nelson’s unique style is right at home on the trippy synths and off-kilter beats. Next, the table is set for Drumz, undoubtedly the track that bears the most new elements, including sampled strings, and a colorful delivery, and features anglophone MC Maky Lavender. Lastly, Expansion Pack closes with Arbois : a stitched-up flashback set to a hazy instrumental backdrop.

Expansion Pack is available now on all music services.

Les Louanges will celebrate the release of Expansion Pack tomorrow, September 28th with a 5@7 at Mile-End’s skatepark, in partnership with POP Montreal. Vincent Roberge and his band will be joined by a string of guests for a live performance, followed by a special DJ set by Robert Robert. Food trucks and bars will be on site, on the corner of Cloutier and St-Laurent.

Expansion Pack is the follow-up to Les Louanges’ first album La nuit est une panthère, nominated on the 2019 Polaris Music Prize shortlist. Last week, Les Louanges learned he'd earned the most nominations at this year’s ADISQ gala, including Breakout artist of the year, Songwriter of the year, Song of the year for Pitou and Video of the year for La nuit est une panthère. It’s the fitting outcome to an already outstanding freshman year for Vincent Roberge. The upcoming months will surely bring its share of surprises, but two things are for sure: Les Louanges will play his first show in Toronto on December 4th at the Drake Hotel, and he will headline his biggest concert yet this spring. After selling-out Club Soda this summer for the Francos de Montréal, Les Louanges will play MTELUS on April 4th with a plethora of special guests. Tickets are on sale now.
