On the eve of their second U.S. tour in less than a year, Corridor unveils today a music video for the song Grand Cheval. Junior, their third album, came out in October 2019 via Bonsound in Canada and Sub Pop everywhere else. Since its release, the record has garnered the attention of multiple international media outlets, including Paste, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan and Les Inrocks, and was featured on the best-of-2019 lists of CBC Music and Le Devoir.

Watch and share the video for Grand cheval via YouTube.
Junior is available on vinyl, CD and all music services.

To create the rotoscope video, the Montreal band teamed up with indie musician, illustrator and animator Chad VanGaalen. I sewed a jacket, pants and hat to rotoscope myself as this alien gatherer. Everything was drawn onto a malfunctioning 15 year old Cintiq. You can buy them for $20 on eBay, although I wouldn't recommend it. [...] I filled my body and mind with many ingredients in order to go from monocular to trinocular, now my vision is blurry but my tailored clothing feels amazing, tells the director.

Even though the video portrays extraterrestrial creatures, the song was inspired by an encounter with an old grumpy man in a park. He talked to us about mediocre poetry and philosophy while asking for cigarettes and beer. When we asked him to leave us alone, he became angry, climbed onto his high horse (Grand Cheval) and became this old demagogue belittling the youth, explains singer-guitarist Jonathan Robert.

Corridor embarks tomorrow on a U.S. tour that includes dates in Brooklyn, Miami, Houston, Nashville and Atlanta, plus six performances at SXSW. In the spring, they will fly off to Europe for a dozen more shows. The band will also perform at Festival d’été de Québec on July 10th, 2020. Go here for more information.
