On the brink of releasing his sophomore album, P’tit Belliveau now unveils RRSP/Grosse pièce, a new track that takes the shape of an ingenious two-part epic. This is the fourth single off the highly anticipated Un homme et son piano, to be released this Friday, April 1st, via Bonsound.

The album is also available on vinyl and CD via our online store.

Adapted from a folk song by Michael Saulnier, an Acadian singer-songwriter and a very good friend of P'tit Belliveau, RRSP/Grosse pièce embodies the anxiety and alienating routine of the average working class individual, who must sacrifice a portion of their life to contribute to their Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP). The single takes an unexpected turn halfway through, as the country-folk lament veers into a lively celebration carried by dance-pop sounds, highlighting Jonah Guimond's (aka P'tit Belliveau) versatility as a songwriter.

The song is accompanied with a music video directed by Vincent Bilodeau, who also directed J'feel comme un alien released last February. To conceive this new video, the director used high-caliber technology tools, such as Occulus Quest's SculptrVR application, to create this 100% digital creation resembling clay stop-motion. Integrating surreal and magical elements into a mundane rural universe defined by routine and work habits, the result is once again as surprising and unique as P'tit Belliveau's music. For my fourth collaboration with Jonah, I wanted to enforce our constant desire to present an original aesthetic, just like his music, but above all I wanted to push the team's technical skills even further, explains the director.

Un homme et son piano follows the highly acclaimed Greatest Hits Vol.1 released in 2020 and the EP of covers ... chante Baptiste released the following year. On this new album, which he produced himself in his Baie Ste-Marie, Nova Scotia home studio, P'tit Belliveau pushes his musical experimentation further than ever, creating the perfect balance between "super organic" and "hyper digital music". This album reflects the impressive variety of musical styles that inspire the young Acadian, drawing as much from country and bluegrass than from hip-hop, disco, Japanese city pop and video game music from the early 1990s.

P'tit Belliveau continues his momentum into 2022 with over 30 upcoming shows. The tour includes a sold out show at Club Soda in Montreal on April 30th and an additional date on June 17th as part of the Francos de Montréal. Check out the list below or visit ptitbelliveau.com for all his show dates.

About P’tit Belliveau
Jonah Richard Guimond was 11 years old when he found a guitar in his parents' closet and unwittingly became P'tit Belliveau. Since then, the singer-songwriter from the small francophone community of Baie Sainte-Marie, Nova Scotia has tackled music with never ending candor and an unconventional spirit.

In 2020, with the help of producer Emmanuel Éthier, he released Greatest Hits Vol.1, an undeniably rich debut album that earned him a GAMIQ for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Album Production (with Éthier) at the ADISQ Gala, as well as a place on the Polaris Music Prize Long List. The young Acadian artist also made it onto several year-end lists, including CBC, Apple Music, ICI Musique and the Journal de Montréal. The noteworthy music video he self-directed for the song Income Tax has also reached over 300,000 views on YouTube, and has been the subject of multiple memes.

In 2021, the multi-instrumentalist released a tribute EP to the late Baptiste Comeau. Now, with a flourishing artistic background and a very promising approach to music production, P'tit Belliveau is ready to unveil his sophomore full-length album on April 1st, 2022.
