On the brink of releasing her debut full length album, Anxious Avoidant, Sophia Bel returns with All Fucking Weekend, a new heartfelt single inspired by early 2000’s angst. This song follows the release of the pop-punk anthem 2AM (And I Did It Again), the melancholic catchy ballad Lonely After Curfew, and I Won’t Bite, a folky acoustic guitar-driven track. Anxious Avoidant is due out on April 15th, 2022 via Bonsound, and is now available for pre-order on vinyl, CD and digitally.

All Fucking Weekend is available now on all music services.

All Fucking Weekend opens Anxious Avoidant with one question: what are we? Sophia Bel sits down and asks this dreaded question, one that haunts the relationships of younger generations. The track starts off softly before taking a pop-punk turn, culminating in a striking hyperpop outro that reflects the intensity of Sophia Bel's feelings towards her own relationship. Not wanting to pretend anymore, she confronts her partner in a way we’ve all dreamed of doing. By the end, we want to answer Bel's lyrics - yes! We will spend all weekend with you.

What really makes this track special to me is how we ended up messing around with the ending, exploring a dynamic tempo change and some angsty screaming with a distinctive pop-punk countermelody, explains the singer-songwriter.

Accompanied by a music video with an aesthetic that screams Sophia Bel, All Fucking Weekend shows her under colorful lights, setting a nostalgic mood reminiscent of days spent daydreaming and ruminating in her bedroom. Directed by Caraz, Sophia waits nervously for a text message that will likely never come. This anxiety culminates into an energetic performance that truly captures the essence of the lyrics.

About Anxious Avoidant
Born during the pandemic, Anxious Avoidant is inspired by the colourful and playful sounds of the early 2000s. The album marks a stylistic progression in the career of the Montreal-based artist and producer, who, for the first time, composed her songs armed solely with her guitar. This new process influenced her writing style, and inevitably, the final outcome offers a significant evolution from her first two EPs.

Anxious Avoidant is a vulnerable tale fueled by Sophia Bel's explosive energy as she explores relationships and feelings while rocking out to the music that influenced her teenage years. Produced by Sophia and Tim Buron, the album is filled with sweet ballads, empowering pop-punk anthems, melodic guitar riffs, and a refreshingly creative approach to Y2K music. By breaking free from her fears and knocking down walls, Sophia Bel gives us a glimpse into her inner monologues, ruminations and emotions. Anxious Avoidant is a personal diary, an open book to which everyone can relate.

About Sophia Bel
Under Sophia Bel’s shy demeanor and delicate voice, there’s an inviting, colourful and playful world waiting for people to explore. Born in Michigan to a Québécois dad and a Dutch-American mom, Sophia has always found her path through music, from singing 90s classics when she was younger to now releasing her debut album. A real 90s kid, she grew up listening to pop divas while dreaming of becoming a music star one day. Bullied at school for her looks, Sophia found an escape daydreaming about a future life as a singer. Figuring out music was her true calling, so Sophia decided to study music at Vanier College in Montréal, empowering her to become the artist she is today. Taking time for herself to recenter around the kind of music she wanted to make as an artist, Sophia Bel found herself going back to her roots, ones that are heavily influenced by the fresh pop from the early 00s, emo-rock, and pop-punk of yesteryears.
