Today, singer-songwriter and composer Sophia Bel releases No Sleep, the third single off Anxious Avoidant Deluxe which is scheduled for release on February 10th, 2023 via Bonsound. An album launch show will be held on the same evening at Quai des Brumes, as part of the Taverne Tour festival. This new song follows Serotonin and Shades of Blue, which were both released in the fall of 2022.
On No Sleep, Sophia Bel explores the inner workings of her cannabis addiction and its impact on her personal relationships. The emo-hyperpop track addresses the way that addictive behavior to a substance can manifest itself within a romantic relationship and have a devastating impact on it.
Written by Sophia Bel and co-produced remotely with Casey MQ, No Sleep allowed the singer-songwriter to deliver a song with her signature vulnerability all while stepping outside of her comfort zone thanks to her collaborator’s refreshingly modern input.

Critically acclaimed upon its release, the album recently earned a spot on several music media's year-end lists, including RANGE Magazine, Exclaim! and CJLO. The six previously unreleased songs featured on Anxious Avoidant Deluxe – including collaborations with Ariane Moffatt and Makk Mikkael – expand the musical palette of the album, demonstrating the full range of Sophia Bel's influences and songwriting talent.
About Sophia Bel
Under Sophia Bel’s shy demeanor and delicate voice lies a warm, colorful and playful world waiting to be discovered. Born in Michigan to a Québécois dad and a Dutch-American mom, Sophia has always found her path through music, whether it be singing '90s classics when she was younger or writing eclectic, catchy songs. Bullied at school because of her looks, Sophia found comfort in dreaming of a future life with a career in music. After taking the time to figure out what kind of music she wanted to create, Bel returned to her roots, heavily influenced by the refreshing pop of the early 2000s, emo-rock and pop-punk of the time on the album Anxious Avoidant. She’s now ready to release the deluxe version, thus broadening her rich musical panorama.
