Today, the multi-instrumentalist, composer, and beatmaker FELP (aka Félix Petit) unveils Brokest Rapper You Know featuring Greg Beaudin and Hawa B, the third single from his album HELP. This new song follows Babyfoot (feat. Klô Pelgag) and Dino (feat. Laurence-Anne). HELP is FELP's first full length record, and will be released on June 9th via Bonsound.
On Brokest Rapper You Know, FELP ventures into hip-hop territory with audacity and authenticity. With a heavy dose of bass, synths and soul, he embraces the genre’s style and takes it to a whole new level. The lyrics of rapper Greg Beaudin (Dead Obies, Brown Family) describe with vulnerability and candor the harsh, precarious reality of an artist's life, while Hawa B mesmerizes us with her luminous and captivating voice.
Brokest Rapper You Know is, above all, the fruit of a spontaneous alliance between FELP and Greg Beaudin, whose studios are located above one another in Montreal. Hawa B, who was working closely with FELP on her solo project, was around when Greg began writing the lyrics of the song. They swiftly invited her to join and her voice was added seamlessly to the mix, giving the track momentum and a fresh musical direction.

On HELP, the prolific Montreal musician blends genres to offer a unique mix of experimental hip-hop, indie pop, R&B and electro-jazz. Renowned for having worked with some of the most talented Quebec artists of our time (Les Louanges, Hubert Lenoir, Safia Nolin), FELP presents an eclectic musical landscape on his first Bonsound release, which follows two self-produced mini-albums that came out in 2015 and 2017.
Nevertheless, FELP’s first full-length solo record is by no means a one-man show. Since his debut as a saxophonist more than a decade ago, FELP has worked with a horde of friends, including Klô Pelgag and Laurence-Anne, who now lend their voices to this album. The album is about collaboration, about lending a helping hand - hence its title HELP.
To celebrate the release, FELP will be performing at the Montreal International Jazz Festival on July 7th, alongside several special guests. This will be the only show presented as part of the release of the album HELP. Click here for more information.
