Today, Joe Rocca presents Blues de Jeans, another foretaste of his sophomore solo album Hybride due out this Friday, May 24th. With its catchy melody, smooth flow and sultry, nocturnal production, Blues de Jeans is the perfect song for long summer nights. This single is accompanied by a music video directed by Étienne Lacelle.

On Blues de Jeans, we float weightlessly in a fog of love, between desire and depression, vulnerability and affection. Dreamy R&B, introspective pop and ethereal rap are all epithets that can qualify Rocca's personal, but by no means hermetic signature. This blend of styles is highlighted on this new single, which stands out thanks to its glossy melody. Blues de Jeans was produced by beatmaker Worry, producer, multi-instrumentalist and hit-making machine Félix Petit, and musician Jean-Michel Frédéric.
The song’s music video was directed by Étienne Lacelle, who also worked with Joe on the videos for 21 Grammes and Qui d'Autre. Somewhere between Eyes Wide Shut and Omertà, the song's imagery features Joe Rocca as the master of ceremonies of a secret cabaret. Following a few strange shows, a mysterious woman delivers a performance that completely bewitches him. However, his obsession for her is quickly noticed by his enemies... What will be the price of his devotion? For Blues de Jeans, we wanted to live up to our ambition and try to do something a little bigger, a little more glamorous, adds the director. We were very lucky to have such a talented team both behind and in front of the camera. This allowed us to bring the unique world of this music video to life, inspired by the mood and lyrics of Blues de Jeans.

About Hybride
Hybride is a duality: it’s the rapper turned singer, the teenager grown adult, the devoted partner who also wants to be a lover. Joe Rocca's second solo album brings together dreamy R&B, cloud rap, synth funk and pop. Most importantly, Hybride is one of the most versatile rap albums ever released in Quebec. Accompanied by producers and musicians Félix Petit (Les Louanges, Hubert Lenoir, etc.), Jean-Michel Frédéric (Dominique Fils-Aimé, Loud, KNLO, etc.) and Worry (Greg Beaudin, Yuki Dreams Again, etc.), Joe Rocca reveals himself as a complete artist, a sophisticated rapper, a conceptual singer, an intelligent and sensual young man.
About Joe Rocca
Joe Rocca is back and stronger than ever after taking some time to redefine his work and develop a well-rounded, introspective concept. The co-founder of Dead Obies re-emerges as a unique artist, bridging the gaps between pop, rap, funk, soul and R&B. With his first solo album French Kiss (2017) and extensive experience with Dead Obies under his belt, the young man, freshly into his thirties, demonstrates a rare musical maturity for his age. This shines through in the humility and authenticity of his lyrics, which deal with love, relationships and self-reflection.
