A few days before his Montreal album launch show, which will take place this Friday, November 15th at Ausgang Plaza, Joe Rocca reveals a new video for the song Told Ya, taken from his latest album Hybride released in May. It features the other rappers of Dead Obies, the legendary group that put him on the map, reunited in a music video for the first time since their last album.

Hybride is available on vinyl and digital format.
Directed by Vincent Gravel, the video features Greg Beaudin, 20Some and Joe Rocca exchanging razor-sharp verses, interspersed with Ogee Rodman's infectious hook, filmed in a series of brutalist urban settings. It was really special to see this “new version” of Dead Obies in action, says the director. Even if the recipe is different, their purpose and drive remain the same. The art direction relies on simplicity, focusing on what has always made the band so successful in the first place: the remarkable talent, chemistry and complementarity of its members. Our goal was also to show that you can do a lot with a little, and that the music video as a medium is not dead, adds Vincent. What makes me most proud is to have directed a video for such an iconic group. It's not every day that the stars align and you get the chance to work on a project so close to your heart.
This Friday, November 15th, Joe Rocca will perform the songs from his latest album at the Hybride launch show at Ausgang Plaza in Montreal. This will be the perfect occasion to see Dead Obies reunited on stage for a song, a rare opportunity not to be missed. Check the list below for all upcoming tour dates.
About Hybride
Hybride is a duality: it’s the rapper turned singer, the teenager grown adult, the devoted partner who also wants to be a lover. Joe Rocca's second solo album brings together dreamy R&B, cloud rap, synth funk and pop. Most importantly, Hybride is one of the most versatile rap albums ever released in Quebec. Accompanied by producers and musicians Félix Petit (Les Louanges, Hubert Lenoir, etc.), Jean-Michel Frédéric (Dominique Fils-Aimé, Loud, KNLO, etc.) and Worry (Greg Beaudin, Yuki Dreams Again, etc.), Joe Rocca reveals himself as a complete artist, a sophisticated rapper, a conceptual singer, an intelligent and sensual young man.
About Joe Rocca
Joe Rocca is back and stronger than ever after taking some time to redefine his work and develop a well-rounded, introspective concept. The co-founder of Dead Obies re-emerges as a unique artist, bridging the gaps between pop, rap, funk, soul and R&B. With his first solo album French Kiss (2017) and extensive experience with Dead Obies under his belt, the young man, freshly into his thirties, demonstrates a rare musical maturity for his age. This shines through in the humility and authenticity of his lyrics, which deal with love, relationships and self-reflection.
